Monarch Movement (love this time of the year)
Allegany State Park had many Monarch butterflies passing through the area today. I counted a good dozen while sitting in the truck today! Many more were observed following the roads moving in a southern direction!

Canada Goose Banding

Rounding Up the Geese on the Lake
I had an opportunity to assist with some banding of Canada Goose this summer. I was amazed at the number of people required in banding these guys. People were first used to help direct them to the pen and then the masses of people would then help in quickly band the birds . . . then they would be released. For sure an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life!

Meadow Vole
Many times people bring me the strangest things for a number of reasons . . . 1) to help identify . . . 2) they are injured and needs to be rehabilitated or 3) they have no clue what to do with it! Late last spring/early summer someone had brought me this cute Meadow Vole because they found it stuck in the dog food container. I held onto it for a short time (to capture a few pictures and observe) before releasing it in the back yard!! These are just a few of the photos that I captured!
