My life is about living with nature – here you can live it with me!

Balls of Fuzz

Muskrat in icy water
Muskrat

It was such a beautiful day out today with warmer sun-rays striking my face! I enjoyed a spectacular walk around Red House Lake and it seemed like the Chipmunks were dancing around their holes saying hello!! This was my first of the year Eastern Chipmunk for me (CHECK) . . . . about time they wake up!

I had a Muskrat (CHECK) feeding on some vegetation down in the wetland area. He was cute to watch diving under the ice and pulling up some grass to chomp on. I also have seen many more Woodchucks (CHECK) running around today! Last Friday was actually my first of the year sighting but it wasn’t till today that they started reappearing everywhere. Below is my Chipmunk video that I have used here before . . . . it is a cute one and I probably will use it every year now once I find these little balls of fuzz.

OMG . . . I almost forgot about my Turkey Vulture (just as I was about to press publish . . . ) I had my first of the year sighting today! (CHECK)

I was laughing too hard to count the cheerios it ate. Too cute.

I wanted to thank you for the tats. They came today.

  4. I got the tats today and they are really pretty and high quality. I’m saving them for warmer weather so they won’t be covered up by a coat. Thank you! They are a great idea.

  8. I love the chipmunk! When I used to live in NJ, we had a ton of them but since I’ve been in NYC, I haven’t seen any (they don’t live in Central Park). So, this little guy with the big cheeks is a great refresher. Thanks!

  9. Hey, Tom–my tats arrived yesterday! Thanks.
I think I will save them for some neighborhood kids and use them as an entree to a bit of nature appreciation. No way can I be as good as you with Young Naturalist, but I can try.

I love the chipmunk–wow, does he (she?) stuff those Cheerios away fast!

And, I can’t help but hum a bit of “Muskrat Love” with your muskrat photo.
