Welcome to the mon@rch nature blog and I hope you join us in some of our nature adventures through the Allegany State Park area!
I am a naturalist, field biologist and nature photographer from the Western New York area. I have started exploring nature writing through this blog and it truly has been fun sharing my numerous adventures with everyone. Thanks to the many other authors that help me with my post and they will be sharing some of their nature explorations.
I have always had a latent interest in birds and photography and have been lucky enough to find time to explore these interests over the last few years. I am very thankful to the Cattaraugus County Bird Club for getting me started, sharing their wealth of knowledge and for their wonderful programs. And many thanks to Tom for letting me share some of my adventures and photos on the Monarch Nature Blog.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. When I have a few extra minutes, I peruse your archives and am always delighted. I referenced to you on my own blog last night (your pileated woodpecker post of march, 08) to share your marvelous site with friends and esp. the homeschoolers I know. Great photos. Today the wind died down and I’m getting lots of birds to my feeders, many in pairs. Paired birds were Cardinals, Downy Woodpeckers, European Starlings, Purple House Finches and a pair of Bluejays. Love is in the air the birds are getting ready. The poor Mourning Dove is alone and probably still in mourning from its lost mate. They used to always come together.

Beautiful pairs to celebrate the day.
I was so pleased to see the pair of mating Monarchs. I miss the butterflies in the winter. Always enjoy your photography.
I just poured a cup of cofee and am looking forward to catching up with you before going out to count the birds.
