Thought everyone would like to get an update on some of our nesting Osprey! Babies are growing up fast and theu are already starting to look like mom and dad. Shouldn’t be too long before they start flying!

  2. WOW! Fantastic shots. Are these the ones by the Friends boat launch (I think that’s what it’s called) over by Quaker Lake? How did you get such straight on shots? Mine are pointed straight up.

  3. @ Sarah . . . yeah to being first! It shouldn’t be too long before they start flying!
@ Amy – thanks and they are from Friends Boat Launch (except the last shot)! I am using my 400mm, so I am further back than you are! But the first picture is with me almost under the nest!

What fun to watch Ospreys nest. The young are looking more like adults. Wouldn’t it be fun to watch one fly for the first time.

  18. Oh – I love that mom (or dad) and baby together in the nest. The baby looks really small to me – but I know from my own nest pictures that they look different sizes in every shot. How nice that you can watch. We get a TON of Osprey in the spring in the State Park near me – but they just won’t nest on the platforms – they go somewhere else – wish I knew where!!!

  21. Way cool! Now that’s one bird I would love to see. Hopefully I will when I head down to Monterey later this year. But, of course, I probably would not see any newly hatched or fledged. Oh well. ;o)

Hi, just found your beautiful photos of the Ospreys. What a treat to be able to see and photograph them. I’m an Osprey featherhead from the DPOF Osprey site.

  27. The Osprey nests always look too big. When I see them I first think they are eagles nests. Lots of room for the babies! Great photos!
