My life is about living with nature – here you can live it with me!

Bluebird Soaps

I ate my breakfast outside this morning and watched some of the Eastern Bluebird soaps!! That poor female continued to put up with this males bluebirds crap! How does she ever get anything done!! This continued to happen all day long!! To understand what I am talking about; click the video below!

Below is a behind the scenes shot of how I made this video!

  5. Great video. Some things are the same everywhere. I am glad you were the one who labeled the male’s behaviour, not me or some other woman! (I am sure you are hardworking and diligent 😉 )

  6. I watched this three times, laughing all the way! This is great and reminds me of old and modern American families, where, I’m sorry to say, the women do the work! LOL! Mother knows, best, I think :o)

    Great show, Mon@rch. Love it.

  7. @ sitta – Thanks
@ Larry – love his work and thanks for your kind words! Will have to let nature come up with their next soap!
    @ liz – thanks
@ Pam – thanks and though you would enjoy this!
@ Ruth – studying animal behavior can sometimes point out the obvious in things that relate to humans! Although I really shouldn’t be comparing the bluebirds to humans but this time I couldn’t help myself!
@ Mary – lol, only 3 times?? The original clip before editing had the male on top of the camera with the grass hanging in front of the lens and those edited seconds had the bluebird vocalizing the whole time!

  9. It’s the same for all of us, isn’t it?
The male goes flailing about, having no idea how to do something, and the female waits, rolling her eyes, until the male gets out of the way and lets her do the job right. And he yells the whole time!
    That just cracked me up.

I love the video. I was wondering if you could help me figure something out. I think a bear got into my bluebird box last night! I am so upset. All the babies were killed. What could I do to stop this from happening? I feel so guilty about it. I appreciate any information you might have.

    Sincerely
    Kirsten

  11. @ Rick – thanks for your kind words!
@ Susan – glad you enjoyed this! When reviewing the video, it is exactly what I was thinking in my head and then had to figure out how to nicely bring over to the blog!
@ Kristen – I sent you a snail mail with more info but I would also feel bad about this happening! I would suggest starting at this website: http://www.nabluebirdsociety.org/predatorcontrol.htm and they should help you set up your box for some of the other predators.

  12. I’m smiling. I’ve got to show this to my hubby to see if anything looks familiar. Thanks for the fun and of course the pleasure of watching these delightful birds.
