Willet at Red House Lake
Willet
On Monday (May 3rd) during my daily walk around Red House Lake with Mackenzie (dog) . . . we encountered 17 Willets (CHECK- first of the year) hanging out on the beach. This is my first time every seeing Willets within Allegany State Park.
How I first found them.
They let me get close!
Up close and personal!
Just before flight!
They flew 2 laps and just returned to the same spot on the beach!

Great shots, esp. of the willets flying off, showing their stripes. Our willets have returned within this past week, too, and I just love hearing them in my airspace, with their loud, distinctive call, almost like they are laughing at me. ~karen
