Welcome to the mon@rch nature blog and I hope you join us in some of our nature adventures through the Allegany State Park area!
I am a naturalist, field biologist and nature photographer from the Western New York area. I have started exploring nature writing through this blog and it truly has been fun sharing my numerous adventures with everyone. Thanks to the many other authors that help me with my post and they will be sharing some of their nature explorations.
I have always had a latent interest in birds and photography and have been lucky enough to find time to explore these interests over the last few years. I am very thankful to the Cattaraugus County Bird Club for getting me started, sharing their wealth of knowledge and for their wonderful programs. And many thanks to Tom for letting me share some of my adventures and photos on the Monarch Nature Blog.
Thank you for taking the time visiting and commenting on this blog.

Tom–it is so wonderful that you encourage these young naturalists. From you they learn about bird banding, great photography and now haiku! WOW–a trifecta.

@ Birdbander11 – she did do great and I like some of the others she gave me to post!
@ naturespalette – She did do great!
@ KGMom – they are great kids and I believe that every child needs to be given an opportunity to do whatever they want in their life! Especially when it involves nature! And heck, they are a big part of what this blog is really about (and as much theirs as it is mine)!
@ Banderparents – She has done great and I have some just as great that I will be posting soon! One is entitled “Road Kill”!!

Young Naturalist C is a fine poet. Haiku is a grand way to exercise brevity and convey beauty. Looks like your fall is truly lovely.

Nice photo!
Honours for adding geological tag information at Flickr, so I could imagine where it was taken even by being from Europe. (hail to the internet)
Btw: you have one of the best header images I’ve seen in a long time.
16 November 2007 at 12:27 pm
Ray, thanks and I must admit . . . that header on the left hand side is all photoshopped! I wanted the caterpillar to chew out the word mon@rch but couldn’t get it to look right!
