My Best Night Ever
The cutest fluff ball of the night!
I am soo tired and need to head to bed (it has been a long night!)! I just had to tell you about the 17 birds I caught this evening! Without a doubt this was my best night ever for the Allegany State Park Northern Saw-whet Owl banding station!! Perfect North East winds . . . . did I say perfect everything for migration?? I need to be at work at 8am tomorrow . . . . so I guess to continue going till sunrise isn’t an option!! When I closed my nets I could still hear a few Saw-whets moving around and vocalizing!! I should have stayed open!! Ugg
Thanks Nancy for your help this evening!
I promise to catch up with everyone’s blogs here soon!! I have like 75 RSS feeds to look at!! Ugg!
Such a sweet, little owl. I don’t think we ‘grow’ them like that in Wisconsin. Your photo is perfect, even if you are now a sleep-deprived zombie.

I just can’t get over how little they are and how they almost look like caricatures with those huge eyes! Congratulations on such a prolific night of banding!

Oh… just take a break from the feeds… we won’t take it personally! Catch more owls!

My favorite owl because of your posts!

Owls are more important than feeds!
You do need to sleep.
Thank you for more incredible photos.
I too love these little owls now that you have shown how darling they are!
What do they eat?
Migration will be over soon.
Enjoy your owls!

If there’s anything that’s cuter than a saw-whet owl, I can’t think of it right now. Congratulations!

@ garden grow Barb – thanks and you do have saw-whets over in Wisconsin! I would have to bet you have maybe even more than we are getting over their!
@ Jayne – they do have cute eyes but if you would have gotten taloned as many times as I did last night, you might start thinking differently of them!
@ Jen – I kinda have but they are talking maybe rain tonight! I should be able to catch up some! Thanks though!
@ Rebecca – awww thanks!
@ Sherry, thanks and almost didn’t even get a blog post because I was so busy with them! Safety of the birds are my number 1 priority! They eat voles, mice, birds, insects etc.. I will be banding them till late November.
