Can-Am Dog Sled Race in Allegany State Park

Dogsled Race

Today the Canadian-American Dog Sledders had one of their annual dog sled races here in Allegany State Park, NY. It is so much fun watching the team of dogs work together in reaching the finish line. Below are some photos from the day and then a video clip as requested.

  1. Wow – these are some awesome hard-working dogs! Thank you so much for sharing and taking the video, too! I love watching them in action!
    P.S. Who won?

  2. They had difference races going on at the same time (Pro’s and Sports) who went different tracks! They also start at different times so it is very hard to tell when they come in if one started 10-15 minutes before another! They took forever to get started on the short races and ended up going home before they started! Just way to cold being outside all day (and standing waiting)!

  5. @ Susan – thanks and I bet that was good enough to get them moving!
@ Marg – thanks and will do my best! I just keep hoping that Allegany Tom was correct that spring was coming early!

  6. Hello Mon@rch
LOVE the video clip you took at the Trappers Special Sled Dog Race. That driver in the 10 dog class is a good friend of ours. He finished with a very impressive time. Your video will be a wonderful reminder of what was already, a great weekend. Sorry you decided to cut out early. For us Siberian Husky owners, the temps were actually too warm.

    Sincerely

  8. @ Rhonda – thanks for such kind words with the video! Was fun to watch but still cold standing in one spot! If I was moving as much as them, I probably would have thought it was warm also!! LOL thanks for visiting and commenting!
@ Marty – I love their tongues out, very happy!

  9. I missed this, too! I love this one as I’m fond of dogs. I heard some audio – they weren’t barking?

  10. I think the dogs were huffing and puffing, that was the sound you heard! I wasn’t that far away from them! Thanks Mary!

Beautiful pictures. My team was the first team on the list. I love being able to pictures of our teams in action. The driver’s view is very different.
The driver of the 10 dog team is a dear friend of mine. He placed second, with an impressive time.
