Today the Canadian-American Dog Sledders had one of their annual dog sled races here in Allegany State Park, NY. It is so much fun watching the team of dogs work together in reaching the finish line. Below are some photos from the day and then a video clip as requested.

I am a naturalist, field biologist and nature photographer from the Western New York area. I have started exploring nature writing through this blog and it truly has been fun sharing my numerous adventures with everyone. Thanks to the many other authors that help me with my post and they will be sharing some of their nature explorations.
I have always had a latent interest in birds and photography and have been lucky enough to find time to explore these interests over the last few years. I am very thankful to the Cattaraugus County Bird Club for getting me started, sharing their wealth of knowledge and for their wonderful programs. And many thanks to Tom for letting me share some of my adventures and photos on the Monarch Nature Blog.

They had difference races going on at the same time (Pro’s and Sports) who went different tracks! They also start at different times so it is very hard to tell when they come in if one started 10-15 minutes before another! They took forever to get started on the short races and ended up going home before they started! Just way to cold being outside all day (and standing waiting)!

LOVE the video clip you took at the Trappers Special Sled Dog Race. That driver in the 10 dog class is a good friend of ours. He finished with a very impressive time. Your video will be a wonderful reminder of what was already, a great weekend. Sorry you decided to cut out early. For us Siberian Husky owners, the temps were actually too warm.

@ Rhonda – thanks for such kind words with the video! Was fun to watch but still cold standing in one spot! If I was moving as much as them, I probably would have thought it was warm also!! LOL thanks for visiting and commenting!

Beautiful pictures. My team was the first team on the list. I love being able to pictures of our teams in action. The driver’s view is very different.
The driver of the 10 dog team is a dear friend of mine. He placed second, with an impressive time.
