Least Bittern
Female Least Bittern on her Nest!
Answer to yesterday’s birdQUIZ!
Least Bittern!
I must admit that I did not find this bird! It was found while following the mass of birdwatchers with all their scopes focused on the nest!!! Ironically, I ran into Toni Kelly while taking these photos! Toni was displaying her art work at the Tom Ridge Center . . . . SO!!! Be sure to go visit her Art work if you happen to be in Erie PA anytime soon! Hey Toni!

Oh, I feel so much better now that I can see the bird! Honestly, I was ready to make an appointment with my ophthalmologist after the last view!
There is something so beautiful about seeing a nesting bird. It’s like God is in His Heaven and all’s right with the world. (Great antidote for “watching the news discouragement blues.”
I’m glad your feed is on my blog so I don’t forget to visit!

Hi Tom,
I was wondering if you were going to post our most famous find from the weekend.
People are still flocking to see it. Michele got video of the birds so will be posting sometime soon. We are both recuperating from a very long 4 weeks. I’m finding it hard to get back into the swing of things.

Bitterns are tough to spot let alone photograph. You get an “A” on both.

Even if it wasn’t you, someone spotted this bird and has a real eagle eye! Nice photos.

Very cool find and some nice shots. Couldn’t tell from your quiz picture, but the nest certainly seemed right for a bittern.

Tom , that bird and nest look vaguely familiar:) I’ve only been there everyday this week photographing it myself. Nice shots, Tom.
Looking for severe thunderstorms tomorrow. Hope they built it strong!
