B – Birds
Loved finding some first of the year B-birds over the past few days! About 10 minutes after posting my previous post on Sunday . . . . I had my first of the year Blackburnian Warbler (CHECK) who was singing up in the Hemlocks! They seem a little early but after looking at last years first of the year, it was ironically also on April 26th!!
This morning while lying in bed . . . . I heard my wakeup whistling of the Baltimore Oriole moving around the trees! Another Oriole was then observed flittering around the apple tree saying “Hello . . . we have finally returned”! I am 75% sure that I had a Rose-breasted Grosbeak at my feeder this morning but only got a quick glance before it disappeared into the trees! So, I suspect that I will be adding the Grosbeak to my year list tomorrow!

Isn’t this an exciting time of year with all the migrants coming through. It just makes me want to stay outside. I love your “in hand” photos.

The Blackburnian image is superb. I guess it just goes to prove the old adage that a bird in the hand is worth one helluva photo.

Great Pics! Are you holding the warbler? Is that from another year?

My mother’s Baltimore Orioles showed up in her Maine backyard yesterday. She was so pleased. I have a pair who stay the summer in the woods outside my office window, but I’ve not seen them yet. They are so beautiful!

Oh, my! The beauty of these birds is beyond words. Makes me feel sorry for people who stay inside buildings and never experience God’s color palette! Just wonderful photos! Thank you for the eye treats!
