Those flowers are on my list too. Seems like the bloodroot and hepatica should be up by now! I’m not so great finding and IDing the butterflies–that’s why I come visit here. So I can get my dose of lepidoptera.

Someone at our arboretum just told me that all butterflies are moths but not all moths are butterflies. Is that really true? (I guess I could google that, but the question just popped up in my head!) 🙂

  4. Dutchman’s Breeches remind me of an upside-down human tooth. Hehe.

    Excellent flower and butterfly photos.

We are searching for Spring here too.

  5. Seeing those photos just make me happy. This seemed like a long winter to me and I can’t wait to see flower and little leaves popping through the dirt.

  6. Excellent series. I have a warm spot in my heart for the Spring Beauty. And I searched in vain last year for Dutchman’s Breeches. Maybe this year!

  8. A Mourning Cloak flew right by me on a warm day last week, but I have not seen one since. It has been so cold the last few days that nothing has grown. Your gorgeous pictures make me want spring to come a little faster.

  9. Beautiful wildflowers you have in your area. The Dutchman’s breeches sort of look like teeth in your picture.

  10. What a vision to see all these blooming! Our little valley still has patchy snow, and there is almost no green to be found. You gave us a pleasant head-start here with your photos.

Spring beauties and Hepaticas should be blooming soon. We always found them during maple sugaring seson – which is now.

I love that Mourning Cloak photo.

  13. @ EVERYONE – thanks for your kind words and I so can’t wait for more of spring to arrive! This is for sure one of my fave months!
@ Bo – Moths are moths, butterflies are butterflies but what many forget are the skippers! Skippers are skippers and each group have their own specifics that make them what they are!
