Sunbathing Phoebe

Phoebe

It has been a while since I have posted any Phoebe pictures! Yesterday with perfect lighting . . . I just wanted to photograph everything I saw (including my cats)! Lazy was a little camera shy and hid once I pulled my camera out! Phoebe just didn’t want me blocking the sun!!

  2. Beautiful, I think she is trying to say that she wants summer back. Maybe she is trying to tan! Gorgeous pictures!

  3. Phoebe has a very comfortable-looking spot there in the sun. We rarely get sun in the winter so when it shined yesterday, our cats were clumped together in the little sunshiny spot on the rug.

  4. While I am sneezing just looking at the pictures, she is an absolutely gorgeous cat. And, she’s so decadent and catlike in her enjoyment of the sun. What a good girl!

  5. I saw the title and expected an overwintering Eastern Phoebe. But, I love cats and yours is gorgeous, so it’s all good!

Your Phoebe is as pretty as her namesake. In the first picture you can almost see her thinking. Aaahhhh such luxury.

  8. I’m a dog person, but that is a happy animal by any view. Glad you got some sun, because up North there was this disgusting icy drizzle all day.

  9. Ohh, Tom, Phoebe photos – how cool to see her again!!! She’s such a sun hog! Ahhh, and the sun is feeling warmer, too, mmmmmm.
Lazy is scared of the camera, too, even with just you around? Doesn’t she know how pretty she is, too, and she should be happy to be photographed by you!!

  10. You need to market that first picture to cat-lovers everywhere and then retire rich! I have never had a cat, but that photo could sell me on one.

  11. @ Goodbear – thanks you are too kind!
@ YN-J – thanks and she is a heat lover!
@ Linda – she always finds a great place to lie! My two cats don’t normally sleep together! They are there own individuals!
@ Liz – LOL, hope you didn’t sneeze too much! Thanks
@ Nick – Little early for a phoebe but shouldn’t be too long! Thanks
@ Sherry – light wasn’t easy with the shadows but once I got the right +/- setting on the camera it turned out great!
@ Lisa – thanks and I love her eye in the first shot!
@ Scienceguy – thanks and I am an animal person! We did have some freezing rain today but this was taken yesterday!
@ Pam – I have been neglecting her recently! Of course Lazy is Lazy! She’s scared of everything!
@ Ruth – thanks and would love to have many other cat people view it!

  15. Phoebe’s a beauty. I can hear her purring. Cats are wonderful models…

Do you brush your cats regularly? They always look so well groomed.

Lovely photos, Tom. I miss having cats around the house. Don’t have them anymore because of allergies and dogs.

  16. She’s beautiful!!! The second picture looks like my cat when she was 20 years younger.
I hope you enjoy 20 more years with Phoebe.

  17. She is simply beautiful as is your photography!
After the such grey days in winter when the sun comes out so does the camera!

  18. @ Rondi – they sure are, thanks!
@ Misti – she does have wonderful eyes! Mine always turn there head on me!
@ Marg – some days I feel like that! No holiday tomorrow to do that?
@ Mary – thanks and both are sitting behind me right now purring! I don’t brush them as much as I should be! Thanks and I also have allergies (so they don’t sleep with me)!
@ Zen – thanks and these cats are both almost 10 years of if not that now! They are no young kitten!
@ naturegirl – thanks for your kind words and we need more sunny days like this!

  19. Phoebe is beautiful, I love her eye in that first photo!

    18 February 2008 at 12:00 am

  20. your photographs are so amazing Tom. I am taken with the fact that I can almost feel the tactile sensation on my hand just looking at such a grand little lady. As beautiful as she is (and soft if your photograph gives a true testimony to her pelt.) Your photograph tells me one thing; It would someone with worse sight than mine to not see that this little girl is the truly the rightful owner of the photographers heart. 🙂

    18 February 2008 at 5:11 pm

  28. Your cat looks just like our cat Peridot. I’m sure you know never to get inbetween a cat and their sunshine. LOL!

    18 February 2008 at 5:14 pm

  29. She is such a beautiful and photogenic cat. And it helped to have the right lighting! Tom, she looks a lot like one of our cats (Misty). Take a look at my daughter’s sidebar where she has pix of each of the cats. http://mmatm.blogspot.com/
I have found, as well as my daughter, that cats and dogs are about as challenging to photograph as birds have been. But when they cooperate, the photos can have wonderful results.

  35. Tom – yes. The light this time of year is sacramental when it falls across our shoulders or a beautiful sleeping cat. It’s indisputable. The sun is returning. We made it.

    Phoebe IS gorgeous.
