Most people probably don’t know this, but we have wild turkeys here in Hawaii — at least on the Big Island, where I live. They were introduced from North America in the late 18th century, I believe. We have a ground feeder to attract francolins and quail, and the occasional wild turkey shows up there, too! Anyway, thanks for these nice turkey photos. Happy Thanksgiving.
21 November 2007 at 9:11 pm
Great that you can find them around you – and that you could get this close.

Dear Tom,
Thank you for the Turkey photo!
I have been out hunting for one and so far have not found any wild turkeys in my area. Last year I did see a few.
How interesting wild turkeys are in Hawaii. I do have ground feeders maybe I need to put turkey food in them.
Have a delicious Thanksgiving and may you have plenty of leftovers. I think pumpkin pie is best for breakfast.
