  3. These are amazing macros Tom!! Does the black part of the frog’s eyes get larger and smaller like our pupils do? I love the gold in its eyes!

  4. Oh, my goodness Mon@rch, these are perfectly wonderful! My pick is the flicker belly.

  5. Gorgeous! I taught my students about Frogs today. They were MOST impressed by the Poisonous Dart Frog but also liked that frogs don’t blink but just have a membrane that cleans off their eye. Anything gross is greatly appreciated by 2nd graders!

    Those macros are spectacular!

  8. You need to give me lessons on using macro. I try, but get nothing like your results. Of course, I don’t have birds in hand either!

  9. You’re the best, Tom. Even if I had a bird in hand, I’d screw up the photos. These are excellent! Have you ever thought of submitting your photos to a magazine?

  10. It’s just amazing to see the perfection of nature up close like that. The colors and the perfect patterns. We are so very small…

Wanna put some of these in our next exhibit? Talk to Sarah. She’s working on a wall where you see a closeup, then another shot pulled back… These would be fabulous in the exhibit!

  13. Beautiful photos highlighting patterns and colors in nature. Especially like the bird eye – how neatly it is surrounded by feathers.

I love the flicker belly–one spot per feather. Who would think that a bulgy frog’s eye would be so beautiful?
