problems with my furnace
Some reason I needed to turn up my furnace because of colder temperatures this evening….
…..or could it be because Phoebe is blocking the floor vent??

Welcome to the mon@rch nature blog and I hope you join us in some of our nature adventures through the Allegany State Park area!
I am a naturalist, field biologist and nature photographer from the Western New York area. I have started exploring nature writing through this blog and it truly has been fun sharing my numerous adventures with everyone. Thanks to the many other authors that help me with my post and they will be sharing some of their nature explorations.
I have always had a latent interest in birds and photography and have been lucky enough to find time to explore these interests over the last few years. I am very thankful to the Cattaraugus County Bird Club for getting me started, sharing their wealth of knowledge and for their wonderful programs. And many thanks to Tom for letting me share some of my adventures and photos on the Monarch Nature Blog.

Cats are such heat hogs aren’t they! Hey, at least your kitty wasn’t covering the whole register! So did you give your kitty some good tummy rubs and put her on your lap to keep you warm? I mean when they give you tummy like that it just *has* to be rubbed!

Phoebe looks a lot like our cat Bonsai. Is she a Maine Coon? She’s a beauty. Our cat sits before the propane stove (it has a glass front, faux wood, gas flames) stretched out like the sphinx. They do love the heat.

@ Nature Woman – she just rolled on her back – normally she does cover over the whole thing!
@ Mary – she is a very fluffy cat! No doubt about it!
@ Robin – we think she might be but got both of my cats at the SPCA!! They do love heat!

@ Heather – it isn’t all fur, she is a big cat! But don’t worry, she would be happy to jump up on your lap!
