Winter Shadows

Winter Shadows
The suns shadows were amazing today!

I intended to work on an in-depth blog post this evening but everything changed as soon as I turned the television on! The breaking news regarding the commercial airplane crash in the Hudson River has made me speechless . . . . I am so thunderstruck that all 155 people on board had escaped the crash with only a few minor injuries. The pilots, on flight crew members, commercial ferry drivers and the first on the scene responders are all heroes! These winter shadow photos are my way of reflecting the 155 lives that were saved by those heroes!!

  2. Tom–you are so right. The story of how the pilot put the plane down just so; the action of the crew; the cooperation of passengers. Wonderful and amazing.

  3. If I am ever in a plane crash, I want it to be like this. What an amazing story. We spent a week in NYC and this was very near to our hotel. It is a wonder the pilot did not hit any boats, and if he had landed in the city, the outcome would have been so different. Now about those birds that caused the engine to fail…there has to be some solution to this problem.
(p.s. Good to see you back online)

  4. That’s some miracle they all survived. I guess it was an orderly exit. Good thing there wasn’t panic because it takes so long to get people off airplanes. They must have all left their carry-ons behind.

You need to make and sell calendars out of your photos. They are just gorgeous!

  9. Beautiful snowy shots. I was amazed too that all those people survived. I can’t even imagine what those people went through, but I am so glad that they are alright and that so many people came together to help.

Your photos reflect the calm demeanor of the pilot; are a beautiful, crisp tribute; paint the season that it happened. But mostly, they represent a quiet thankfulness to extraordinary skill.

The park is an oasis. I enjoyed the beautiful sunshine during the day and went home to blowing snow. I should retire to Red House.

On the rescue–people do still care and cooperate. It’s too bad the tradgedies are more newsworthy.
