Chestnut-sided Warbler
One of my banded Chestnut-sided Warblers
Had a SWAT banding session scheduled this morning and after 3 hours of banding (with sunshine). . . . the thunderstorms quickly surround me and forced me to close everything up. The final 3 hours of banding will be done tomorrow and I will then do my banding report. Until then . . . . I will share these Chestnut-sided Warbler pictures that I captured on Monday.

Perfect perch and lighting! What a beautiful bird. I hear birds now, but have trouble finding them in the foliage.

Great pictures Mon@rch. Is this a bird you banded this year or is it from another year? Can you tell?

Very nice photo of the Chestnut-sided Warbler! They really are colorful. Warblers are hyper.

Oh, he’s beautiful – we saw a lot of them a couple of weeks ago in Shendandoah Nat Park…They just might be my favorite warblers – then again, I huess I couldn’t really pick a favorite!

I never saw a Chestnut-sided until I came to work at the park, and I see very few anywhere else. You got really lucky with that middle shot. Why can’t they pose like that for bird walks??
11 June 2008 at 10:59 pm
That sure is an attractive looking bird – one that I’ve never seen before. And I guess I won’t see one unless I travel east. ;o)
