Trying to Catch Up!
Snow Bunting from 15 Dec 2007
It has been a busy week with limited time to take any pictures or do any blogging! We lost power a few nights ago to that huge storm that moved through the area. Last night I did a slide program for the Cattaraugus County Camera Club and I now need to prepare for my next slide program on the 19th. I have lucky come across a few first for the year (cool) birds this week! The weekend started with a Northern Shrike (check) who made an appearance at the entrance of Red House off I-86. Yesterday a flock of ~12 Snow Buntings (check) were doing their thing along the road side near Red House Lake. I then noticed a small raft of Buffleheads (check) swimming in the middle of Red House Lake this morning (yep, the lake has thawed out already). This spring weather has really made me crave looking for spring birds like the American Woodcock! Then I remember that it’s a few months early before I can start doing these activities!!
Although I miss everyone, I just seemed overwhelmed with things right now and yes, my RSS feeds are building up! I promise to take some time to catch up with everyone’s post here soon! Not tonight though, I am off to be early to catch up with some sleep! Thank goodness that tomorrow is Friday!

Don’t worry Tom we all need to take breaks at times.
Life just happens. I have never seen a snow bunting so this is great seeing one through your eyes.

i know the feeling of never having enough time. we all do need a break at times. it seems like there is always so much to do and never enough time to do it. hope you have a better week-end. ~nita~

We all have to take breaks when we get busy. I can’t seem to get back into blogging much yet. There isn’t much for me to blog about now that the birds, butterflies and flowers aren’t to be seen. And I think people are tired of hearing about my knee, haha. I’m pretty busy still digitizing hundreds of slides, photos, video and 8mm for the many years of my life. It may take the rest of my life! It started out fun, it’s not fun anymore.

This time of year seems to always be hectic. I am going to have to try for the shrike and buntings. I had 16 Bald Eagles at the dam before the ice melted – 14 in a group on the ice and 2 in the air by the dam itself!
I hate early thaws.

Don’t fret Mon@rch. We will be here when you return to us. I just love the SNow Bunting photo. I have tried to photograph them without much luck. They are usually way out in a field or so skittish I can’t seem to photo them.

Great Snow Bunting shot! I see them often but I agree with Lisa, they always seem so skittish and are hard to photograph.

No worries! Very nice sightings already for 2008.
Snow Bunting would be a lifer for me, pretty bird.
Everytime I see all your different birds I think I must move out to the woods. Than I sit on the deck with my birds and wonder who would feed them all! Things will settle down soon for you. Do get some rest. The birds will be there for you and we will be here when you get a chance to post.

I hear you Tom.-I’m in the same boat.-Nice photo of the bunting-is it a relative of the 12 Snow Buntings you just saw? -anything is possible-right?
