My life is about living with nature – here you can live it with me!

Day Four – the Return

Woke up in the morning to find some snow on the ground. I really did not want to leave Cape Cod and drive the 9 1/2 hour trip back to Western New York. I did finally get everything packed up and started heading home. This is always where you start to reflect the many adventures that happened on the trip.

Highlights had to be the five lifers that I saw: Black Scoter, White-winged Scoter, Common Eider, Brant and Northern Gannet. I loved hearing those Eiders vocalizing, large rafts of the Black Scoter and the Northern Gannet diving in the water for the fish. I never expected to see the Harbor Seals like I had, yet alone photograph one. The local NPR did mention that a whale had been swimming around the Cape with her calf. Although they believed it might have some fishing lines around it and wanted to try for a rescue. Never did see any whales on the visit but I had always had hope!!

I did pull over and took a few pictures of some new cell phone towers that I have been seeing. I guess a tree cell phone tower is better than a normal tower? Still sticks out like a sore thumb to me but I shouldn’t talk, I use my cell phone all the time. But, my focus was just in getting home than taking any other pictures. Kitties were very happy to see me once I did finally arrive home and thanks to my mother for taking care of them. Can’t wait to tell you all about the many changes of birds and that welcomed me once I made it home.

  6. Oh yeah, kitties are always glad to have you back, and if they could, they would tie you down so you’d never be able to leave again! So glad you enjoyed your trip! What a great experience for you!

  7. NatureWoman – they were very happy! It is when they always expect me not to go anywhere when I am not there to feed them (and mom comes in). Thanks and can’t wait to hear about your trip!
