Welcome to the mon@rch nature blog and I hope you join us in some of our nature adventures through the Allegany State Park area!
I am a naturalist, field biologist and nature photographer from the Western New York area. I have started exploring nature writing through this blog and it truly has been fun sharing my numerous adventures with everyone. Thanks to the many other authors that help me with my post and they will be sharing some of their nature explorations.
I have always had a latent interest in birds and photography and have been lucky enough to find time to explore these interests over the last few years. I am very thankful to the Cattaraugus County Bird Club for getting me started, sharing their wealth of knowledge and for their wonderful programs. And many thanks to Tom for letting me share some of my adventures and photos on the Monarch Nature Blog.
Thank you for taking the time visiting and commenting on this blog.

April fools! Or did are you really going to get a D300? You seemed on the fence a few weeks ago, but it seems like a fantastic camera.
I have two domains that point to my hiramtom.blogspot.com, but I have had the time how to figure out how to actually publish to those domains and get rid of the hiramtom.blogspot.com, but I’m not sure I want to do that now..since so many people link to the hiramtom….not completely sure how the re-directs and things like that work.

What is the Nikon D700 or Nikon D300 mean?

Beautyful sign of Spring!

Can we ever have enough cameras? I have 5 that work, including my cell phone camera, and 3 broken ones. BUT, I don’t have a digital SLR or a camcorder. 😉

@ Pinar – thanks
@ Tom – this would have been a cheaper April Fools but I did get the Nikon D300! You will have to see what pictures I am able to get with it! I knew you got the domain . . . shouldn’t be too hard to figure it out! If you use my wordpress address or my monarchbfly.com domain . . . it goes all to the same place! My guess is that the same would happen to you also! Better to make the change now than later!
@ BirdGirl – Thanks and glad you enjoyed!
@ Samuel – I sent you an email with a few email links to see the difference! They are different kinds of camera bodies!
@ Naturegirl – Thanks but this was taken in June a few years ago!
@ Grace – nope and glad to have a back up now! I was having problems with the 400 today but working fine now! I was a little worried, all good now!

Wow! Beyond jealous but I can’t wait to see what you get with it. Enjoy!!!

This is going to be good.

You already take the greatest pictures, how could they be any better? It’ll be exciting to see what you and your new camera will create.

New camera? Oh, boy. Let’s see some new shots!

Count me jealous at getting the D300. I’ve been wanting one but it’s not in the budget right now. Can’t wait to see what you start shooting with it.

So, Tom – where was your April Fools version of this blog?
2 April 2008 at 8:55 am
mmm, irises! *heaven* I want a field of them in my garden one day. We have an apostle’s iris at the moment, blooming its head off. Thanks for the uplifting beauty this morning.

Anticipating the real arrival of spring is killing me! My camera batteries are charged, the lenses are cleaned and I’m ready to go. I look forward to seeing what you’ll capture for us with your new D70s!

This is exquisite. I need to learn a thing or two (or thousand) about photography. You seem to be excellent at it. I have a Canon 20D but have definitely not mastered anything about it. Glad I found your blog.
