Spotted Salamander

Salamanders
Slick salamanders
Roaming in the wet, wild woods
Looking for their love
Of course the big salamander night happens when I am on the road to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge for the weekend. Most everyone back home went out and enjoyed the salamanders without me . . . . . I so wish I was there . . . . OK, at least I am at Chincoteague for the weekend! CHEERS!!! The girls sent me a text message with this Nature Haikus that they made up this evening. I loved it so much that I couldn’t resist blogging it with a few older photos that I took!

Ah, so you got them yesterday too? I spotted a few yellow spotted salamanders and red efts, but nothing to the extent that you saw.

I found newts and frogs, no spotteds, but it was still daylight when I was looking.

Nice haiku! That top photo looks more like an entire ecosystem than a “mere” salamander!
