Geocaching has been really popular around here as well.I would find it interesting but I'm too addicted to birding to give up my birding time.

I agree Tom, it's pretty inexpensive now days - we paid 100 bucks for our Garmin and another hundred for the maps but that was something we wanted anyway to find out of the way backwoods spots. (New lakes, new hiking spots etc...) In our area a couple of guys geocached 26 old log cabins (neat how out of the way they were...) and we dropped scrabble tiles for each one. (based on the letter of the cabin.) These guys get really creative and inventive and it is really really fun!

@ Linda – they are not really buried but more hidden in spots! Yes, they do have some stamps and PA does have some passports that make it fun.
@ Marg – I am busy and think I am starting to come down with a cold! Need a break!
@ Jayne – very cool and it is a fun sport to do with kids!
@ scienceguy – the unit that I use was only $100
@ aullori – I didn’t know you were a cacher! Events are fun and we are hoping we can make this event a mega event since we had 512 people attend!
@ Marvin – It is fun and like I said the unit that I use only cost me $100!

For a long time I've thought that geocaching sounded like fun. Too bad it requires a (relatively) expensive piece of equipment that I really don't have any need for. :-(

Glad your event was a big success. Now, onward and upward to bird banding.
