Wild Turkey in the corn field
I wanted to give the “Wildlife Wednesday” thing a try since Young Naturalist J started using it over on his blog. High five to his family for coming up with the great idea. Yesterday I located a huge flock of turkey along the side of the road while heading out to photograph the nesting Eagles. The Turkey were just clucking along and probably one of the largest flocks I have seen this year! Happy Wildlife Wednesday everyone!

I love the composition of those photographs, tom. The turkeys look wild and elegant on the snow. Wildlife Wednesday is a grand idea. If I remember, I’ll post something next week.

I love these shots. We have wild turkeys here, too, but they don’t have to trudge through snow. They do NOT like to get separated from their group, though — just like the ones in your photo.
Regarding Wildlife Wednesday — I love the idea. I’m working to put together a new photo blog — land-based this time.
I think running a Wildlife Wednesday feature in it would be a great idea. Stay tuned…

Wild turkeys are such handsome creatures. I love seeing them together foraging in the corn fields.

Looks delicious.
Walking through a bird sanctuary in Guelph, Ont. one day I rounded a corner & came face to face w/one of these guys. It was awesome.

I’ve seen a large flock in a field but they hide in the stand of pines and cedars before I can photograph them. Great shots!

Dear Tom,
I really like Wildlife Wednesday!
I will be out of town next week but will make a note to be part of Wildlife Wednesday come April.
Even in my backyard I have a bit of wild life!
Soon lots of wild plants! LOL
Great turkey pictures. I see them once in a blue moon.

A great photo op–my neighbor’s domestic Guinea hens with a flock of wild turkeys. Do you call that keeping wild company? No camera, of course.

Turkeys are one of the most beautiful birds in the forest, especially a big “TOM” when he is strutting.

My parents (who live in Hinsdale, Mass.) have a LOT of wild turkeys every year that come to their yard. Some years there’s only a few, but this year there are 16 of them that come every day to eat (my Dad feeds them, along with the deer and other birds). My mother was so enamored with how the deer and turkeys eat together she just got her own camera so she can take pictures of them!
